While the Carlos Tevez transfer saga continues to rumble on without a conclusion clearly within sight and with three new signings already in the bag, it seems more likely that players are likely to leave through Old Trafford's swinging doors before any further players come in.

Several players on the fringe of United's first team have been linked with moves. Not least Gabriel Heinze, with a reported move to Liverpool rubbished by Sir Alex Ferguson. "Gaby Heinze is not going to Liverpool, let's put that to bed now," says the boss sternly.

Alan Smith, who is seemingly intent on staying and fighting for his place in the first-team, continues to attract attention of Premiership clubs, most recently Everton, whose manager David Moyes is said to be renewing his efforts to take the striker to Goodison.
